“The group operates in a changing market where growth is dependent on maintaining relationship and developing new business,” Director David Cavet said in an interview with The Northern Echo. “However, we believe this can be achieved by continuing to provide a range of high-quality products and services at competitive prices.”
Thomas Swan and Co. Ltd began in the 1920’s converting slag waste from the steel industry into road surfacing material. However, when the switch was made from using tar as a binder on roads to bitumen, it created a surfactant, which became the company’s very first chemical product.
Their products now includes tire and rubber additives in a performance chemicals division, and it also supplies an active ingredient that’s used in the cleaning agent Dettol.
